Dental Crowns

A cracked or chipped tooth is best addressed with a dental crown.  Dental crowns restore compromised teeth, helping them return to their natural state in terms of size, shape and functionality.  This restorative procedure ultimately strengthens teeth that endure wear and tear as result of decay.  Crowns are essentially caps that connect to teeth with the use of dental adhesives, serving as the outer surface of the tooth, safeguarding against additional damage and also empowering patients to avoid root canals or even tooth extractions down the line.

Our Carol Stream dental practice’s crowns are held in high regard as they resemble the hue of natural teeth while proving durable as time progresses.  Strength is essential to crown functionality as crowns are subjected to considerable force when chewing through food.

There are some situations in which partial crowns are optimal.  If the tooth or multiple teeth do not require a full crown and a basic filling will not suffice, an onlay will bolster strength to fortify the weakened tooth.  Partial crowns are also useful in that they mitigate decay, preserving tooth structure for continued functionality.
