Complete Dentures In Carol Stream IL

Complete dentures replace an entire arch of missing teeth and the associated lost soft-tissue contours.

Creating a successful denture involves substantially more than simply making a set of teeth.

At John E. Sullivan DDS, P.C., the denture process involves evaluating the patient’s oral tissues, jaw relationships, available supporting anatomy, appearance, speech, and functional needs.

Multiple records may be required during fabrication.

These can include:

  • Preliminary impressions
  • Final impressions
  • Jaw relationship records
  • Tooth selection
  • Wax try-in appointments
  • Final processing and delivery

During a wax try-in, the position and appearance of the proposed teeth can often be evaluated before the definitive denture is completed.

Once the denture is delivered, adjustment appointments may be necessary as the tissues adapt.

Dentures rely upon the remaining oral tissues and jaw anatomy for support. Because the jawbone gradually changes following tooth loss, the fit of a denture can change over time.

Relining, rebasing, or replacement may eventually be necessary.

For certain patients, dental implants can also be used to improve denture stability and retention.

Our goal is to create dentures that provide an appropriate balance of function, comfort, appearance, speech, and maintainability.
